I know this isn't exactly a compact machine, but figured the concept is the same. 19HP Briggs twin motor.
Out of no where my tractor started idling very high adjustment of the throttle on the dash didn't make a difference. I couldn't get the tractor to idle down. After looking at the linkage i noticed that I could close the butterfly manually on the carb and it would idle normally. After I make this adjustment manually and try to control it with the dash controls again, it will once more not idle and rev too high. I think it is some how related to the governor but not quite sure how to adjust it. I've come to the conclusion that the issue is show how related to the govenor linkage because after removing the carb, the linkage will not return to a state that would make the carb seat against the idle adjustment.
This is after a manually adjusting it against the idle adjustment screw.
I've tried to adjust that screw without any luck.
That piece that the screw is in need to be completely seated to the left to idle.
