I was thinking of buying a Mojack tractor lift for my BX1860 so I can get at the mower for cleaning and blade service. The lift is rated for 750 lbs. Problem is how can you find out what the tractor weighs just on the front wheels. The tractor with the mower weighs 1460 lbs but how much of that would be on the front wheels which is where it would be lifted from? Has anyone ever weighed a tractor on just the front wheels or if someone knows how to figure it out it sure would be helpfull to me.

The majority of your weight is on the front. Get some three wheeled dish casters for under each mower deck wheel, lower the deck onto the casters, and roll it out for service. With the BX it is way to easy to remove and roll out.

You might be pushing the 750 lb. limit of the Mojack.
Here's a link to another lift site to check out.
A chain fall or 3000 lb winch electric might be a good option if you have a place to hang it from. And probably about the same cost of the Mojack.

I think you'd be close to, or over the max for that lift's capacity, and I certainly wouldn't get under it without jackstands.

I'm having a new shed built, and a primary concern was being able to lift the front end of my BX25. Among other reasons, I prefer to roll the mower under from the front, so as not to have to change the deck wheels direction twice every time I mount the mower. Also, I wanted to be able to hoist other machinery and equipment as needed....so my builder and I decided on an i-beam & trolleys to suspend a 2,000 lb hoist from the beam. Shed is still under construction but the thing works nicely, as designed....I've lifted the front with the FEL attached with no problem....but I don't get underneath without jackstands, no matter.

If your shed or garage is sturdy enough, I'd suggest you consider a winch or hoist, and that way you can have it for lots of other uses.

I use a three ton floor jack under the rear of the tractor where the plate for the hitch is.It gets it high enough to remove the blades and clean the deck.Just make sure the deck is at the top position.:2cents:

The pictures in this thread show an angle of lift that I can almost achieve just by driving my mower up on the ramps of my trailer. I can drive it up onto the ramps to service/clean under the deck.

I would think a engine lift would be cheaper and work for lifting the front of the tractor.

Well I can't believe I can be this forgetfull! Maybe it's because I turned 67 in May! I have been pondering what methods a person could use to weigh just the front end of a tractor. While I was thinking it over I remembered that I have a Sherline hydraulic scale that I use to make sure the tongue weight on my trailer is correct for towing. I put the scale on my floor jack and lifted at the bracket assembly on the front of the tractor. The scale read 460lbs. Given that this point is about a foot in front of the center line of the tires and axle, which is the lifting point for the Mojack, I would guess that the weight would be a little less than the reading I had. Anyway, it looks like I am well within the limit of 750lbs. for the Mojack.

I would also invest in some hard wood blocking to create a cribbing with a small piece of plywood to support the front wheels. this way you can lift it and lower the wheels down on the cribbing and have no worries. I just dont trust lifts unless you can lock them in place or support the wheel assemblies;
too many misshaps have happened which is why you hardly ever see the single air over hydraulic vehicle lifts.

I just want you to be safe and happy riding on your new toy from now on.
