Hi,

does it exist a kind of book like that? If not, why TBN doesn't make one? I would bought it for sure. I will have my first compact tractor so I'm newbie tractor user. How to use a chain? How to place your tractor by the stone you have to moove? How you park it? How maintening it? Towing it? What about Security? Attachements; which is for what? So many topics for a book, no?

Thanks

For a full-size TLB, the best book I have seen is "Operating Techniques for the Tractor-Loader-Backhoe" by Gary J. Ober.

The website to buy it is: HEAVY EQUIPMENT TRAINING MATERIALS: Equipment Training Resources - Backhoes, Loaders, Excavators, Trenchers, Hydraulics Training Books & Videos

While it is primarily intended for machines larger than my 110 TLB, it has been very useful to me.

If I know I am going to do a major job, I look it up in there first. The other thing I do is re-read a chapter every month or so. It has kept me out of a lot of trouble.

CurlyDave,
Went to the website and looked at the table contents. Very Very Impressive! 38 bucks...went to Amazon and the cheapest USED copy they had was 82.50! Went right back to Equip Train Resources and bought one. $48.0 w/CA tax and shipping.

Thanks for the offering. Looks like a great reference.

FredArtic:

I believe that TBN does have a book on tractors. Scroll down on the Main Index and you should find it there. There are also two books: How To Use Implements on Your Small-Scale Farm by Rick Kubik (2005, Motorbooks, MBI Publishing Company), and The Compact Tractor Bible by Dr. Graeme R. Quick (2006, Voygeur Press, MBI Publishing Company). There is useful information contained in those books for a "newbee". Use your new tractor safely and well. Jay :)

PS: Send pictures. We like pictures. :D!

There is a great downloadable article on attachments through LSU AgCenter's website- LSU AgCenter . Welcome to the LSUAgCenter. Check out Implements for Compact Tractors, Selection, Use, Maintenance, and Safety by Richard L Parish, Ph.D.

Thank you for the references. I will send pictures... I still wait for my tractor! I bought it on April 27 and the dealer doesn't have it yet... He has one since May but he said it is not mine... But last week, he wanted to deliver this one, but he didn't have the canopy... I said No, I want it with all its compoments... Why did you not offering me this one before? He was not fair; he said he didn't have the loader, but it's not true, he had the loader on another tractor... I have wrote to Bobcat company and asked them, when are they supposed to deliver my tractor to the dealer, cause I seriously consider to cancell cause if the delivery is so hard, how will be the aftersale services? I still don't have answer from Bobcat...

...he said he didn't have the loader, but it's not true, he had the loader on another tractor...

Look at this from the dealer's point of view. If he has a loader installed on another tractor, he has paid the labor for putting it on there once. If he uninstalls it and the reinstalls it on your tractor he has paid for about three times the labor he should. I can understand him wanting to wait for a new loader.

I bought it on April 27 and the dealer doesn't have it yet...

Now this is a substantive issue. I would take this, and the lack of a new loader, a sure sign that parts availability will be a problem in the future. If I could get out of the deal easily, I would take my money over to someone who actually stocks what they sell, or at least can get it in a reasonable time.

The reference book/manual CurlyDave recommends above arrived today. I got the chance to do a flip-through after dinner for an hour or so. I am pleased with it.
