I'm a rookie. Just looking at purchasing a new Mahindra/Kioti/Branson tractor. Got quotes from Bills Tractor and Rivera's machinery. Both in central Texas. Wondering how "concrete" dealers prices are. Do they typicallly haggle or add in anything at all (besides a hat) or do they expect counter offers? Purchased many cars but I don't think tractors have as much "wiggle room". I know Bill's (who by the way seemed like really good folks) said that the quoted price was pretty much the price.

I wen't to both dealers and both seem very good. the deciding factor boiled down to the actuall machines. i feel you get way more tractor with Mahindra. Bill's is a great dealership plus you can order parts online.I got my tractor at Diamondb tractors in Corpus which is a branch of Bills. They are very helpful, honest and straighforward. Bills also has alot of used tractors you can view online.

Good luck with your decision.

Rudy,
Thanks for the reply. Was there any negotiating that went on or were their package prices pretty set?

You are looking at some good tractors. But I have to agree with Rudy. Both the 25 and 10 series are really nice machines. I'm a few months away from actually purchasing one myself, got to finish paying for another toy first, but you can bet that I'll be making an offer I deem reasonable when that time comes.

I would guess it is much like car shopping. If the item is a hot seller, they'll hold high. If it is a slow mover, they'll talk to you.

For example, when I first started looking around, I talked to one dealer who had a 3325 on his lot. He told me that the price was just under $9,000, which I had already discovered was about average for my area. I thanked him for his time, and after looking over his inventory I went on my way. The next week he surprised me by leaving a message on my answering machine. He was willing to knock several hundred off the price he had originally quoted me. Unfortunately, I was not in the immediate market for the purchase.

I've since visited him and thanked him for his generous offer. He is a really nice guy.

As long as the dealer knows that you are serious, they will work with you to earn your business. I've found this to be true in everything I've purchased, cars, boats, etc.

Determine what is reasonable for your area on the tractor you want and make an offer. It can't hurt, and there is no reason for anyone to be offended by your offer as long as it is reasonable and you are polite.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

That is different to areas and dealers. Around here the price was that. You pay the money and they deliver the tractor. Color doesnt matter. You might be able to dicker a little around the farm show time because almost, not all, of the dealers knock a few hundred off.

TP, Bill's Tractor was the same price as Diamond B in Corpus. Niether of them would come off the price on the tractor. I bought my 3510 from Diamond B. They came down on their implement prices.Diamond B is also giving an additional rebate now to do with their 2nd anniversary. I'm not sure of the amount. Clay and Clarisse at Diamond B are good folks.
