FYI - This link has been updated with 2006 pricing for all major manufactures. I found it quite helpful in finding out not only the list price of items but also the number of accessories that Kubota / others offer.

BTW - Attached is the BX and B series pricing in PDF format.

Great, I had ask Jerry G months ago to get this but he forgot and I didn't follow up either, so thanks for the new pricing guide. I think Dealers keep an eye on this too.....

This has been really helpful. However, it would also be useful to have "invoice" or dealer cost information -- something like edmond's only for tractors. Is there a web site that lists wholesale prices for base items and options including factory delivery changes? or does someone at least know roughly what the markup is so we can take some back bearings and estimate dealer costs?

thanks

If you review the cover sheet (usually the 1st document) for each vendor, you will see the discount the vendor is giving the state. This will give you a rough idea on the total markup.

So for example Kubota will provide 20% off of the prices listed in the docs..

http://www.dot.state.mn.us/equipment/contracts/tr_cpt_utl____shrt version/k info pages.pdf

So if you take the list price of a BX1850 with ROPS and loader valve - $8309 - 20% = $6647

or... a loaded BX24 - ROPS / FEL / BH 12" bucket / 60"MMM = roughly $17,700 - 20% = $14,160

In my opinion Kubota is not in the business to give away their products so even with this discount for the state they are still making money. How much who knows... only a dealer i guess.

Comparision to my own deal

BX1850 w/ 54" MMM / FEL / Ballast Box

I paid $11,700 in NH

According to the prices at this site...

BX1850 w/ 54" MMM = $10829
FEL = $1988
Ballast Box - $198
Total = $13010
Less 20% = $10408

If i were the state of Minnesota I would've paid $1,300 less...

Friends you need to keep in mind that in many cases the mfg will give the dealer a rebate or reduced price to sell on a state contract or non profit bid. Therefore in most cases when selling to the public without the available extra factory discounts, dealers would have to sell below cost if they sold to the public at the price they sell on bid (state contract)
Hope that helps

One other item to consider, the states usually buy multiples at a time. The states are also exempt from any Federal Excise Taxes that might be involved, so the price will also appear to be lower. I know that Ford sells the Crown Vic's for police work for less than a similar civilian Crown Vic will sell for. The states buy thousands as opposed to an individual who buys one at a time. Dusty

Well, yeah, right there with you, you know? If I were the state of NY I would have paid less, too. Check out this site: Oh, man! They took the site down! I had a link to a local tractor co that was offering stuff to municipalities at a huge discounted rate. I wrote the dealer (when the site was up) and received back:
" Unfortunately The Manufacturers give different discount structures to Gov't agencies. I can't even buy a tractor for that price. The only way I get my credit back is to supply the gov't purchase order to the manufacturer and after an audit I get the difference credited to me. The only way you could get that price is to become the "Town of Charles" and derive your income from a tax base.
I have no intention of making anyone think I am trying to rip them off. I have to advertise on the website because a lot of agencies have to see the contract pricing in print, (as per the State)."

Mind you... Town of Charles didn't ring so poorly in the ear... But he's not biting. Ah well!

My inlaws were Chrysler/Dodge/IH class 7 and 8 truck dealers for over 50 years,,., The Minnesota pricing site is very misleading. THe inlaws sold hundreds of IH dump trucks, school busses and Dodge pickups to the local and state gvt's....Every single sale,, the price to state and local gvt's was comsiderably less than they could buy for... Even though at one time they were number one in New England for Dodge pick up and one ton series, it made no difference.... They got somewhat of a kickback from the manufacturer and even at that,, they rarely broke even, The reason they pursued it though,, was they always could gain a private sale or two, from the municipal sale,
