Local Man Killed By Tree Limb

A Laurens County man was accidentally killed Wednesday afternoon while clearing property around his house.
According to Laurens Coroner Richard Stanley, Jesus Sebastian Santos, 37, of 222 Alcorn Road, Dexter was pronounced dead at 6:35 p.m. Thursday shortly after being found in the woods behind his house.
He was using the front end loader of his tractor pushing up some trees, said Stanley. A limb came back and hit him in the head.
Santos wife found the injured man and called 911, which sent out first responders, EMS and law enforcement to the scene. According to scanner reports, Laurens County Rural Fire Director Don Bryant was the first to arrive on scene.
Bryant was heard reporting to the 911 operators that Santos had visible head trauma and he indicated that he believed Santos was deceased.
Laurens Sheriff Bill Harrell responded to the scene as well as several sherriff´s deputies who were nearby.
Stanley said no autopsy was requested on Santos because the injury was obviously the result of an accident.
No other information was known about Santos at presstime.
