Tractor rolls at idle

I too am having trouble with my PT422 in creeping backwards.
It does it as soon as it is started.
I do put the brake on before getting off, but I am guilty of not shutting the engine off if it is only going to be for a minute when I leave the seat.
Did someone post how to adjust this and make it right?

I know how to adjust the 1445, which has a Hydra-back. Yours might be a Hydra-back, or hydraulic shifted. You should call Terry. The cable might need cleaning, and lubed.

Thanks, that is the first time I have ever seen anything about adjusting the Hydro-back. It is usually coming from Terry over the phone. If I remember right, that is about how Terry told me to adjust the neutral setting. I know the replacement cable is about $115.00. Essentially the Hydro-back is a spring with in a spring, and they push/pull against each other to bring the lever back to neutral, that is assuming that the foot pedal is cleaned and lubed, and the cable is cleaned and lubed. . I took mine apart and cleaned everything. I sprayed some WD-40 through the cable, and then dripped some Teflon stuff through the cable. It's working about 85 % now. I have some pictures if I can find them.

Carl, At least you can just flip the BrakeTender lever to set all four wheel brakes whenever you get off the tractor.

Those brakes need adjustment once in a while too, or the will not hold fully or evenly. Your manual has the procedure.

This may or may not help anyone based on my past experience with the older hydro-back cleaning and adjustment. I found that even after adjustment, there was still some play in the unit and it would still creep backwards. After I attached a spring to one end of the hydro-back the creeping stopped .. Link below .. If this applies to anyone else I can take a picture of the attached spring.

Really more of a rig than an install nothing complicated but it worked for me and I haven't had a problem since. Not sure how useful it would be for anyone else but I was looking for a quick fix here it is ..

I had cleaned the cylinder inside and out and adjusted it several times. Each time the PT would still slowly creep forward or backward. The spring took up the little bit of play that was in the cable and cylinder. There was just enough play to cancel out the the adjustments I made...
