I am new to the tractor thing, so i need a little help w/ a shed.

I have spent 150% of my budget on the equipment ;) now i need a shed.
i have a fairly large Utility tractor and six implements to house. i assume the trailor can be locked outside beside the shed.

i was thinking something around 16x20 - wooden post - around 10 foot tall

is there an economical way to have a solid, wooden framed, builiding w/ a tin roof? - i need it to be somewhat secure - maybe a rollup door? 4x6 posts? or 6x6 posts?

can i have a dirt floor and still have a building that will last?

any info would help - or even a good source for metal buildings under 5K would be nice.

thanks in advance.

this is a great site.

commonly refered to poll barn....

dirt/gravel floor, 6x6 posts 8' OC... trusses...

the thing is, your size is REALLY REALLY small...

if you have
i have a fairly large Utility tractor and six implements

then i woudl think the min you would want is 30x30 with 12' poles.

in theory you could get away with a smaller main enclosed building, say 24x24 (2 car garage) and a 12x24' lean2 on the side for outside "dry" stoarage of implements.....

I would get mine from here.

Carolina Carports Inc.

18 X 20 or so assembled on my site, 7' posts (plenty high) with the heavier gauge metal was about $1000.

For parking the tractor and the bobcat it was far and away the best deal I could find.

does that have sides? or just the carport? that's a great price.

Just a carport at that price, there is an online pricing thingy on there that you can add stuff as you go and get the price.

oh, I also added the extra 2' bracing, it was $60 and well worth it too me. The suck bends they use really weaken the metal.

Dollar for Dollar to get my stuff under cover it was hard (impossible) to beat.

I also have a Carolina Carport. I went 18x26x10 with the 12 guage metal. I also got the vertical roof and mine came in around 2k. They told me when I got it, I could add side sheds later on. This is where they got me, the 12x26 side sheds will run me 3k. JC

I believe that 16 x 20 will be way too small (but I really don't know what you have for a tractor and implements). My JD990 with the FEL bucket and a LX5 rotary cutter attached is about 24' long, which means that in my 26' long building there isn't much room for more stuff lengthwise. If you go only 16' wide your tractor will eat most of the usable space up in a hurry leaving you wishing for more room to store those implements - and you will not be able to simply pull into the garage and hookup. I have a gravel floor without problems so far, and would go that way at least versus just dirt (i.e. mud in wet weather).

Again all this is not applicable if you have a SCUT or much smaller utility tractor than my JD990 setup. Also, I would build a leanto on one side for my discs; plows; etc....to be dry but outside.

Here's what I went with. 18x24 with a 10 foot roll up door. Cost was a little over $3000. You will need to have it insulated because these types of structures sweat real bad during the winter depending on where you are located.

That's a nice looking shed you got there Redneck. Who manufactured that building?

I'd want to try and ventilate it for air flow rather than insulate to prevent temperature (air) exchange.

I'm thinking on calling these Carolina people and see about a ridge vent and if guttering can be attached on an open side.
