Tractor starts then quits immediately

I have Mahindra 2816 geared.

When I start is it quite immediately. Will not run but a second or two. The air filter looks good and fuel filter looks good. Has plenty of fuel.

Has plenty of fuel in the fuel filter holder. Weather in in 60s so cold weather is not a factor.

Any ideas as to the cause of this and how to fix it?

Not enough information. So it runs a second or two and dies. Can you restart it, and does it then run a second or two and die again, or does it keep running? Or is it not usable at all right now?

This thread reminds me of one of my dumber experiences with a tractor. My new (at that time) Kubota would start, and instantly die, once, sometimes twice, before it would start and keep running. I even asked the dealer about it, and he had no answer. And then one day I finally realized what was causing that little problem. When I turned the key to start it, I'd just let the key slip out from my fingers. And the ignition switch spring was strong enough that it would flip the key all the way back to off.

Needless to say, I felt like an idiot.
