tractor stops running

Johndeer 3038e stops running just like you have shut off the gas after the first two hours, after it stops it will start and only run for a second than stops. I`v drained the tank and cleaned it out by sobbing it to see if their was anything in the tank , nothing. I replaced the fuel with new diesel also put new fuel filter, fuel pump and flushed radiator new fluid, tractor is only two years old has 72 hours. What would cause this problem,if you let it sit for a hour or more it will start and run maybe for a hour. Is it under load for those 2 hours before it shuts off or can you drive it around and it will still shut off?

Gas cap venting okay?

Next time it stops running, pop the gas cap off and try starting it again.

Or might be vapor lock. We have been running upper 90's into 100 degree weather here lately. Next time it does it, get out the water hose and squirt it on the carb and fuel line, pump, filter, and plumbing back to the tank to cool things off. If it lights off and stays lit then I would suspect vapor lock which is essentially boiling gas and heat and an obstruction in the fuel line (filter) would be the causes. Agree with Eric also. Easy for the vent hole in the cap to get clogged or in your case partially clogged. If air can't replace the gas you draw out of the tank it will form a vacuum and stop the fuel flow. I had one clog on my JD 110 riding lawn mower and having a thin walled plastic tank, it sucked the tank into a wad.
