Tractor tire long life

I have seen so many cracked old tractor tires. Mine are a few years old. I dont want them to crack. I keep them full of air. Is there a tire conditioner that should be applied once in a while?

Do you store your tractor in a dark barn where no UV light can hit the tires? My 19 year old rear tires are cracked but the keep working. Front tires not the same story. One had too many holes. The other tire split from rot. My tractor sits outside all year round.

Do NOT put ANY petroleum based tire dressing (read: 99% of them out there) on your tire unless you want to shorten the life of it. About the only one out there that even gets a nod is 303 Aerospace Protectant.. 303 Products Aerospace Protectant : Amazon.com : Automotive

It's the sun that kills them. My Firestone R1's are 34 years old now and have no cracks. Granted I don't use the tractor a lot of hours every year. I live in the cloudy Pacific Northwest. I keep a tarp over the tractor that almost completely covers the rear tires.

i collect antiques. many times i'm getting oe or severely vintage tires. they look bad.. but not uncommon to get decades on decades on a tire...
