First time poster here.. looking to the collective wisdom of the site. First, I know nothing about tractors. A complete newbie. So here is my situation. I live at 8000' feet in the Wasatch Mountains in Utah, at the end of an approximately 1 mile single lane road. I get, on average, 500 inches of snow a year, and am looking into a way to clear my road. I will need to clear up to three foot storms of 6-10% density snow. Not usually real heavy. I'm currently paying about $6000 a year to have the road cleared and figured I could do it myself and save some money, not to mention that it will be cleared when I need it. So, the question is, how big a machine will I need to clear my road? I've searched the forum and done a little research but really don't know how big of a tractor I would need. I've priced some new tractors at the Kubota site and came out in the $15-20K range. Would something in the B2620 series be adequate? I would think so.
I have also found a used B7300 for $7200 with a blower. Too small?
Also, temperatures in the -10 to -20F are not uncommon, and the tractor would be stored outside. Is diesel even an option, or should I look for something that uses gasoline? Can block heaters be used and do they help?
Any and all suggestions/guidelines/help very much appreciated, and thanks in advance.
