It all happens so fast, doesn't it...
I have a tire swing in my front yard. I have mowed the lawn previously with a hand mower (walk behind), an MTD, and a JD 111. I have always just mowed around the tire swing and it will bounce off the front of the mower and swing freely as I drive past.
I just picked up an old JD 140 a few weeks back. I was mowing the same spot in the same way that I always mow, but this time, the nose of the 140 fit perfectly right inside the center of the tire. By the time I got everything stopped, the tractor was at least 45 degrees in the air with the blades still going. I reversed the tractor and got out of the situation without any injuries to the tractor, the lawn, or me; but it sure woke me up.
Funny thing is that this morning after a pretty good rain storm, the branch of the tree that holds the tire swing was laying accross the lawn. I wonder if the stress of the tractor on it weakened it so that the weight of the rain could finally knock it down.
