Trade HH187 for MM200???

We just acquired through a merger, a Millermatic 200 welder.
I haven't welded much with it, but it seems to weld and operate just fine with the little I have done.

My boss mentioned that what we really need is a smaller, more portable welder than the MM 200. So of course the gears in my mind start to spin ....

So I'm thinking of offering the boss a trade.

My one year old HH187 for the old MM 200?

What do you guys think? Fair trade?

sounds like a good deal for you. and if it makes your boss happy then that's all that matters. the mm200 is a nice 250 amp class machine. i wish i still had mine, but i sold it.

If you read on the Miller welds and even the Hobart forums, the MM200 has an almost cult following. The question for you is the wear and tear on it.

I've checked it out a little further and everything seems to be in great shape with the exception of the gun. Looks like the 15' Tweco gun has been slapped and banged around a bit, but what can I expect for a 20 year old gun? I do know that this machine hasn't even been turned on in over 6 years until I turned it on this week.

I did find that it was made in 1990 so that makes it 21 years old.

I wanted something larger or more heavy duty when I bought the HH187, but the 187 was the most I could afford at the time. And I'm not knocking or bashing that 187 at ALL. It's a great welder and I've pushed it hard with a few projects. It hasn't let me down yet. I just need something bigger.

I'm going to see if I can seal the deal in the next few days and I'll let you guys know.
