Buying Advice Trade in skid steer for..?

Do you need to stack the rounds? My 25 hp new holland has a lift capacity on the 3 point of like 1300 pounds. So I could move one of those rounds no problem.

The FEL only has a capacity of 1000 lbs so no real chance of my lifting that round w it. We only feed small squares so no issue for me.

The bigger the tractor the bigger the gate you need. Also larger turning radius than your skid steer. So make sure the tractor can get into all the places you need it to.

I have been in too man horse barns where the tractor is too big to fit down the aisle way. That to me is a sin. I need to be able to deliver dirt and/or stall mats. And I ain稚 doin that by hand!

I think you should be able to find an hst tractor that can lift a 1000 lb round w the FEL.

How about a beat up hay wagon hauling 4 round bales on end? Hitch on back door of skidsteer.

This or any "regular" trailer with towing hitch on your forks or bale grabber.
It sound's like your comfortable with your skid and it's easy to push a trailer with a SS so your not even getting out to hook up to a trlr. I push/pull a g/n trailer, heck all my trailers with my SS quite often.

I recently posted a similar but opposite post in the construction section......but I was looking for reasons to keep my tractors and not only use my skid. I've since decided to keep the tractors and the skid, sell some tractor implements and buy more skid attachments.
As several folks have indicated, they both have their place. Depending on your needs/wants/finances, both is ideal.
If you can only have one for now.......how about a double bale spear for the skid? You'd be a bit over your operating limit but well below your tipping limit.....depending on your terrain and comfort/safety level, may or may not work.
You mentioned an auger.......ill sell you one cheap, I have two. .....lol. The one time I tried to use it, it bounced around on top of the ground and couldn't penetrate the ground at all. It is a bit rocky....but no joy whatsoever. A skids auger at least has down pressure.
I'm with you on hooking up 3 pt implements, particularly ones with pto's......it's always a fight to get em on. Versus......the quick attach of a skid.....and I'm even more spoiled with a hydraulic coupler....lol.
I mow with an ground shark style brush hog/mulcher.......and I greatly prefer it over a rear tractor brush hog.
