You may need to be more specific. Model #? traded to dealer or private individual?

There can be varying prices between dealers. It all depends on what they want. A year ago I traded in a X495 that I had 3-4 years and had 250 hours on it. I think I paid $10-11,000 for it. It was it like new shape obviously but 4 dealers held on $6000 for it and then I found one that would give me $8800 for it on a new X740. A person generally won't get close to what they think it is worth usually unless they are good at dickering. At least I don't find that. It all depends on who the dealer is and how bad they want yours and if they have a buyer all lined up already.

that statement says it all about trading machines, however, there is no way in heck you'll get $7500 for an x520, I wouldn't pay that for a brand new one and don't know anyone that would.

The thread starter did, even more:laughing::laughing:
Here is what the thread starter said a few days ago.
Trust Me it listed for $8,995.99 then a week after I bought Him the price of him went down to $6,000. If I can find it I will post it up on the forum.
Here is the thread he started, enjoy.

I remember a thread about that a few days ago but it didn't connect that it was the same member. From the name I thought he was trading in a 728. Either way, If I bought a new "anything" today, trading it in tomorrow, I would take a big hit. Someone said a dealer "buys wholesale and sells retail." I believe that. At least for me, the only way I can make out on a tractor and not get beat twice is to keep it forever and accumulate them :laughing:

Deere Dude,
Welcome to the forum!

Your 3720 and X740 make a good pair machines.

Maybe there's an interwebs compatibility issue with the OP, but I can 100% assure you that asking the SAME EXACT question over and over and over isn't going to change the answer, no matter how much you don't like it.

If you don't like your machine and you owe more than it's worth, then you're going to be eating negative equity when you dump it.

Sorry, but that's the reality of the situation.

Second that!

I'm thinking Johndeerex728 is probably a kid (younger teenager at most) since some of his posts mention his Dad. I guess he's doing some wishful thinking...

Hmmm maybe daddy told him he paid way too much just to get him to drop the whole idea of tradin.

It seems quite obvious that you are a young man.

We have lots of younger guys here at TBN, but they've learned the ropes here. Some of them, are very knowledgeable about tractors. Johndeere3720 comes to mind.

I'd suggest you might private message a few of them for their input, instead of asking virtually the same question over and over in new threads.

Just guessing but it seems your dad bought the 500 series and you have some kind of desire/envy of the larger 700 series? Now you want him to trade up, at a loss he isn't likely to go for, imho. I gotta a lot of doubt of this happening anytime soon.

Anytime you get what you want or more for a trade value you are paying more on the other end. I don't believe that trade value matters one bit but some guys like to see the higher value. The ultimate figure is the final bottom line, how much money do you have to throw in the pot to get the deal done. and is that figure acceptable. This is and always will be the sales "game". I have always preferred to see real figures; what will you sell me the piece no trade and what is the wholesale value for my trade then you can be better educated (i think) to wether or not you can peddle it yourself and keep that dealers margin for the used sale in your pocket.
