My wife and I just got done building a house on 10 acres. The area around the house is wooded with a small creek, however the front 2 1/2 and the back 5 acres are open pasture and were cut by a local farmer for hay. The front area needs to be cut every two weeks, while I plan to cut the back 5 acres only 3-4 times a season.
I bought a used JD 4100 Gear drive with a 200CX loader/60" MMM/ 4' KK brushcutter 2 years ago hoping I would be able to maintain my property with this equipment. While I really like the MMM for cutting the area around the house, I have found that it takes too long to keep the front and back areas maintained. The tractor has less than 200 hours on it, so it is barely broken in.
This past weekend I found a 4115 (130 hours) with a 60"MMM and 200CX in the local paper for $13500. The main reason I am considering the 4115 is the HST drive and the possiblity that I will be able to use a 5' brushcutter.
Is the 4115 a feasible option to maintain my land? Does the 4115 have enough power to effectively operate a 5" brushcutter. I am not looking at anything bigger due to the weight of the tractor on my yard, which has just been seeded after building. Finances are tight right now, so I would like to keep costs to a minimum.
Would the 4115 be a good choice? Is $13500 a good price?
Thanks
KT
