I just bougth a used B7500 and with the deal came a number of attachments including a brand new 48 or 60 inch landpride landscape rake. I'm not sure if I'll have any use for it and was wondering if a dealer would take it in trade for a new/used 48 inch box blade which I'm sure I can use to maintain my gravel drive. So my question is two-fold. Should I keep the landscape rake because I may find a use for it down the road, or spend the dough to buy another implement or should I try to trade it in on the box scraper?

Keep it unless you really need the bucks. Over the years I have found that if you got a place to keep it, you are better off to keep your implements unless getting a bigger or newer of the same thing. Just my thought.

Since you mentioned a gravel driveway, I would recommend you keep the rake. It works great for smoothing out gravel, and you can angle it to pull excess gravel or dirt to the middle of the driveway to crown it so water runs off the side, rather than down the middle. It is also great for final smoothing of areas you shape with the box blade or gathering up rocks or roots. Lastly, if you are planting grass, a pass before you seed and one after will do a good job of covering the seed.

Depending on how heavy they are built, the rake may be worth more than the box blade, but the dealer sure won't give you as much, because he needs to make a profit. If you really don't want to keep the rake, you could probably sell it for enough to buy the box blade outright.

I agree with Casimir. Trading that rake in your won't get anything for it. If you have it around you may find things that it works good on. After I worked my soil up for seeding I used my neighbors to loosen things up before I laid seed down. I then dragged the seed in but Casimir said he ran over his again with the rake. I didn't think of that and it may work better than my drag.

Just two cents worth.
