Hello, I'm new to this site and trying to get some advice.
I'm thinking of trading in my 2005 bx130 (it only has 70hrs, mower, post hole digger, snow blower, and FEL)and its always been stored inside.

Any ideas what I can expect for a trade in?(I need a bigger tractor)

I'm looking at the grand L3830 (hydro) any thoughts?

thanks in advance

For trade-in you might expect to get 70-75% of MSRP list. As far as comments on the L3830, if you are looking for information on how well it will work for you please respond with your specific needs, why the BX1830 is too small, etc. Good luck with your decision.

Thanks for a great starting point for trade in.

I need a tractor that will be able to pick up round bales approx 800lb. as well as get through mud and also be able to scape down paddock areas, my bx is an awsome tractor but has its limitations.

Im looking at the L3830 w/723 loader.
Do you think the L3830 will do what im asking?
thanks

There are a couple of 1830s for sale at dealers around here - the higher end ones are around $9800 with just a FEL and similar hours. I figure by the time you factor in a profit margin + wiggle room at a dealership, you're probably looking at a trade value of about $10k with all of the accessories. That, of course, is a rough guess.

The more I trade in over the years, the more I realize that dealerships have very little in the way of profit margin any more on the products. So, you take a bath on whatever it is you're trading. Case in point (though not direct comparison) is Mercedes-Benz... in the '80s, the profit margin was between 25-27% on each vehicle. Now, it's more like 8%.

That's what we get for Home Depot selling John Deere, etc. You and I know they're not the same quality as what the dealer is moving, but tell that to the average American.

Where are you? I'd be interested in the snowblower and post hole digger.

bxowner-
thanks for your thoughts on trade in, I'm actually going to trade the whole package in. I talked to a dealer in New Hampshire and he's going to give me over 12,000. :)
I'm trading it in for a L3830 hydro with a FEL. :) :):D

What brand and model of post hole digger is it? What augers do you have with it? I might be interested in purchasing it from you or if you trade it to the dealer if he is reasonably priced on your used one. Dusty
