I'm returning the I-MATCH to the dealer. It just is not working out for me. It works beautifully with my LX6, but every other implement requires modification. I have the telescoping draft links and that makes it pretty easy to switch implements. So, I stopped by the dealer and suggested he take it in trade for another implement. He quickly agreed, so now I'm trying to decide what I should get.

A set of forks would be nice and I could do a lot of work with them. The dealer sells an aftermarket set for $778, and says there is no appreciable difference in these and the $1,100 JD forks. The quick-connect to the FEL.

A pulverizer would be useful, but they run $1,600. I will be working on planting pasture on 6 acres of reclaimed pine forest pretty soon and eventually about 20 acres. I never used a pulverizer before, plus its more than i really want to spend right now so I'm not sure about this one.

A chisel plow would be nice for raking up the left-over roots in preparation for pasture. I think they range in price from $300 up depending on quality.

Landscape rakes run about $575 and might be useful for pasture prep, but I'm not sure about that either.

I'm leaning toward the forks because they seem so versitile and I've seen some pretty extensive clean-up work posted here by TBN guys using them. I think I might be able to get the pastures done with my disc harrow and box scrape and I could use the forks for other things I need to do right now.

So, what implement would you get? Anything else I might consider before deciding?

Cityboy, take a look at the post from 7/25/05 "I-match or Pat's quick change", it will give you options if you like the idea of a quick hitch. My Deere dealer traded my I-Match for the Speeco, works great! Good luck!

Just depends on how much you want to spend over and above the iMatch. I bought a landscape rake a few weeks ago and consider it one of my most valuable attachments.

From your list and considering the iMatch price, that's what I would do.

JD dealer said the forks are made by Whelchel Manufacturing. I couldn't find a web page for them. The ones in stock quick attach to the 522 loader. They paint the mast JD green for the dealers. Dealer quoted me $778

I got my third-party forks through Horst Welding - the Aitkin John Deere Dealer sold them to me and they've worked pretty well. The price was about $650, if I remember correctly.
