....Tomorrow my Mahindra dealer in Pendleton, OR is taking my 14 month old 3215 (gear) in trade for a brand new 2415 (gear). He thinks the 3215 looks so clean and polished that it can pass for "nearly new".

I decided to make this trade because of weight issues; I need to be able to transport the machine on a trailer using my Ford Ranger. (only occasional, and short distances) I phoned KMW loaders in Kansas and got exact weights. The 3215 with ML 111 weighs 3380 lbs and the 2415 with ML 105 weighs 2445; hence I am saving 935 lbs. Wow, these loaders weigh more than I thought (ML 111 is 820 lbs, ML 105 is 626 lbs)

I carefully evaluated all the features, capacities, benefits, etc of the tractor I need to do my work. The 2415 fits the bill. I have concluded it is basically a 2015 on steriods. Being the same weight as the 2015 (1819 lbs), the 2415 gear has 21.5 PTO HP compared to 17.5, 80 cubic inch engine compared to 68, 8f and 8r gears with a shuttle shift, compared to 6f and 2r, and a rear 3pt lift of 2205 lbs compared to 1400.

In addition, the loader bucket has 7.0 cf capacity, compared with 5.8. And it will lift 1050 lbs compared with 915.

I am also "downsizing" because a major portion of my lot improvement is completed. I just don't need the extra size and strength of the 3215. With industrial tires, my experience is that the 15 series Mahindra's have more power than traction. It would be very interesting to observe a 3215 with filled Ag tires pulling ground engaging implements!

I'm excited about getting the new 2415! I even checked out the specs on both the B and BX series Kubotas. There just isn't a 23-25 HP, gear tractor, that has the capabilities of the 2415. BTW, one reason I'm staying with a gear tractor, is because in this HP range, the PTO HP benefit of gear vs HST is indeed substantial. It makes a big difference, for example, in the size of bush hog or finish mower you can use.

When I get my 2415 home tomorrow, the first thing I will do is remove all four wheels, and wax both sides of the wheels. Then I will detail and wax the entire tractor, with 2 coats. I'm going to keep this thing real clean and pretty looking; maybe it will last longer and have higher resale value someday.......

...hey Doug, you can have it for less than $12,000; but the shipping from WA to taxachussettes? Wow, that would break the bank!

You are right. The shipping cost would make it more expensive than a brand new one bought locally.

On the other hand, yours is probably in much better shape than a brand new one!!! :)

I confess that I really don't understand this downsizing move at all... but whatever machine you own, I hope you will continue to set the very highest standards for proper machine care.

Whenever I wash and detail out my machine, the "Bill6 Standard" is always there in the back of my mind. :)

Doug, I had a chance to see the Bill6 standard in person, he dropped by one day in his ford ranger super mileage pickup.

It was waxed to a mirror shine, and absolutely spotless, I would buy a tractor or truck from Bill in a heart beat:D

It probably belongs in a museum. :) I should think he would want to sell it outright rather than trading it. Think of the big smile on the face of the happy second owner!!! :D

If only Washington state were a little closer to Taxachusetts. ;)

wait, you're supposed to clean tractors? lol. I cleaned my John Deere lawn tractor once. Sure did look shiney until I mowed the lawn again.

You are clearly not a believer in the "Bill6 Standard" of excellence in tractor care and maintenance.

We are the few... the proud... the Bill6 Standard true believers!!!
