Welcome back, Nuru!

I don't think you'd have any trouble looking over a tractor. You know what one should be like.
Good kuck on your purchase. the 43xx series machines are some of Deere's finest for 10 acres or so...

thanks Roy and thanks for your help.

Yes this tractor only has 65 hours on it, is two years newer than mine and I am getting $11.5k for mine in trade. Mine has only 117 hours on it. So I am getting newer/bigger/less used at least in hours.

The 4310 is a sweetie. Greg

Thanks one of the chores is mowing as quick as possible about an acre of grass on land that has some slopes. Hey a question comes to mind. This unit has a 72" MMM, but I was wondering is the 7 Iron MMM that much better?

I m also looking to get some anti-scalping rollers to limit scalping

Don't know about mowing. My 4310/ 430 loader is primarily a snow mover on my one acre. Greg

That will be one of its primary jobs in the winter. In the spring and summer, i plan to use it for landscaping and landscaping maintenance. i am just hoping that that 72" MMM is not a scalp-a-holic in my hands.

Nuru,

Although I do not have one myself, I have seen some work done by the 72" mid mount mower, and it cuts really nicely. I assume that you are mentioning the non-7 iron model. The 7 iron model is a little nicer and more heavy-duty, but it is not that much nicer than the older standard 72". These are heavy mowers, and although they cut as well as a lawn tractor in most cases, they can scalp some if the terrain is really irregular or one is cutting too short. I found it interesting back when I had a 72" rear mounted finish mower on my machine. My parents have a large, highly-finished lawn and my father was concerned at times when I mowed for him that I might do a bad job, or the tractor I have (3720--same size as 4310) would scalp, etc. due to the machine weight and tires. Surprisingly to him these big machines tread as lightly as a lawn tractor and actually cut BETTER than most. He had at that time a little 335 JD GT and the 3720 would easily do a better job on his lawn when I mowed it. I think your concerns are valid, but I would say the work these machines do with these heavy duty decks is quite impressive.
