Tragedy Strikes in Michigan

I can think of a few things that would cause the glass to shatter but they just don't seem likely/possible.

The best guess I can think of is that maybe the glass was already cracked and that the vibration from running the combine caused the glass to shatter and/or the boy leaning against the glass had something to do with it.

I cannot imagine the living hades the father is going through.

Later,
Dan

Not that the details in a news story are ever accurate. But, the story says, "He was leaning on the windshield when it broke".

That's different than it shattered.

After some Google searching, I found this quote: "The Large Front Windshield Of The John Deere Combine Broke Out"

Apparently, the window the child was leaning against, fell out. Perhaps after hitting a rut.

That makes a little more sense.

I guess that is possible.

I am curious of the age of the machine.

I wonder if someone serviced the windshield, and installed it incorrectly?
