A while back I bought a trailer axle with 74 spring centers. The idea was to build a lawn mower trailer. Well, I bought a 60 inch zero turn which I’m sure some of you know the chute adds another foot, which makes for a very tight fit. I could tie the chute up when loading, but would rather have a slightly wider deck. It’s either buy a wider axle or possibly put cross members on top of the frame rails and build a deck over. I’m using rectangular tube frame to make it strong enough without relying on the truss design most of the bought ones are. Anyone see an issue with the deck over plan?

The only problem that comes to my mind is you may drag the mower deck when coming off the ramp onto the trailer deck.

Myself, I would just tie up the chute.

Cut axle and widen... Maker trailer to what width you deem necessary... Other wise you will never be totally happy with it...
