Hi All,

I'm looking for a 18'+2' or 20' 10k to 14k trailer in Northern Wisconsin of Upper Michigan. So far the prices I have gotten have been sky high (20' 12k $4300)! Anyone have any experience with any dealers you would care to recommend?

Thanks, Ed

That price seems high. I was recently quoted $2600 for an 18 foot 12K# Rugged Road trailer from a dealer around Green Bay.

There is a trailer dealer in Marinette that handles H&H brand. I only looked, did not deal. I think there is a fab shop in Ironwood/Hurley that used to have trailers for sale.

If you drive as far south as Green Bay, I might be able to offer suggestions. Perhaps posting this in another thread might yield a better response. I think there are a few people on this board that might have more info.

Hi L3650,

I have started to look in Wisconsin and one dealer suggested the Rugged Road, I have not seen these trailers. Do you have an opinion on them?

Also was quoted $2950 for the 18' and $3150 for the 20'. Would you be willing to let me know from whom you received the quote?

Thanks,

Ed

The best price on the Rugged Road was from Captains Trailer Sales on hwy 41 south of Green Bay near Wrightstown, WI. But I am a repeat customer there. I could not deal with Badger Trailer on hwy 29. There are a number of trailer dealers north of Green Bay on hwy 41 very near each other, and all competitive. Last summer I was looking very hard and did alot of shopping. My need for a trailer went away, so I didn't buy. But the more dealers in the same market, the better the deals. I believe you could do better in an area where there are more trailers for sale.

The Rugged Road appeared the best for fit and finish. Chanel iron cross members, heavy deck planking. Some of the 10K trailers I looked at had heavy angle iron crossmembers. I had a spread sheet put together comparing features, but don't have the details anymore. There are alot of trailers out there.

Do a search for utility trailers. Read about some of the features that are promoted. Learn a little about what you want to see when you look under the trailer. Start looking at information about wiring harnesses, torsion axles vs spring, GVWR, etc. Get past the sales pitch and get into the mechanical aspects. You will find what you want fast enough.

My parents bought their Rugged Road trailer from a dealer in Meniminee Michigan - same location as the Honda motorcycle dealer on US 41 - close to the Mahindra dealership /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif.

They had a better price than any of the dealers near Green Bay.
