I have been in the market for a heavy duty tandem dual gooseneck. I found a 32' PJ with tandem dual 15k axles with electric over hydraulic brakes. It had a five foot dovetail with monster ramps. It was a 2016 model bought new less than a year ago. I gave 12.5k for it. When I got it home I was going through the tool box and found the original invoice. The guy paid 23k for it in September of last year. These types of trailers were bringing a premium when the oilfield was booming but can be practically stole right now.

That's for sure. Lots of hot shots are going under to bad there are so many useless 40' trailers being sold. I have been looking for a shorter deck 10k, 12k, or 15K axle dual tandem for hauling my 550 dozer around. A 40' just won't take that kind of weight in a short span I dont think. Any pics of the sweet deal?

Here are a couple pics. A few of the boards were warping and the dealer replaced those before I picked it up.

I agree those 40' trailers have a long span and are heavy as can be. Mine is a 27+5. I plan to load around 20k on it.

It has the two speed semi trailer jacks, crossmembers on 12" centers, 17.5's, spare, frame bridging, etc. Probably weighs around 8,500lb empty. Truck got 12mpg pulling it home which wasn't bad I thought.

Also the tool box was never cleaned out. I haven't counted them all but it was full of 3/8" grade 70 chain and binders.

They had new ones with 10k axles for under 10k. The 15k axles add a lot as do the hydraulic brakes. Another thing on these big trailers is the FET. It was 2k. Thankfully FET is only paid one time on the original purchase.

I wouldn't worry too much about loading a lot on the longer trailers as long as you stay within its rating.

I have a couple trailers for sale. 20 plus 5, and 35 plus 5.
