Trailer for a Grand L?

What size and type of trailer will I need to haul a Grand L 4240 with loader. Probably 4500#, maybe a little more. 5000#? What length to insure I can position the weight properly wrt the tongue?

I towed mine today with my 16ft trailer pics below. I would recommend 18-20 feet depending on attachments and at least 10K capacity. I'm looking for a 20-22 12K to replace my current trailer.

I originally had a 18' 10k trailer. I had a FEL and an BK90 with loaded tires. It was undersized. I actually lost a wheel. Lugs sheared off. I may have under torqued them and contriguted. I replaced the trailer with a 20' 12k trailer and have not had an issue. Good luck with your selection.

I tow a L4740 with a 14'+4' dovetail and it is maxed out. It has two 5000# axles and I usually use the weight distributing hitch. The tractor has loaded tires and almost always has the FEL with grapple or bucket and 6' bush hog attached. The trailing wheel of the bush hog actually hangs off the back of the trailer by a couple of feet. It tows just fine behind a F350 dually but I only tow it about 20 miles max round trip. The trailer was actually bought to tow my B2400 around and was overkill for that but, as I said, barely adequate for the L4740.

So, what I have is probably the absolute minimum that you need. A 22' trailer and 10K pounds axle(s) would be a much better fit.

Medic, the trailer shown in your pic sure looks like a 7000# trailer....definitely pushing it with that 3940 on...

I had a trailer built to tow my L4400 4x4 with its tires filled. The trailer is 20 ft with an 18 inch long rear drop section and two ramps. it has 10K # axles with electric brakes. I tow it with a Yukon XL Denali all wheel drive with an internal computer adjusted suspension. Just returned it from the shop on Friday without a problem. With the root rake down against the bang plate ttractor center of weight sits just forward of trailer center. I have had it on I-10, loaded with the FEL bucket and backhoe, up to about 65 mph without a hitch.
