I am considering a BX2200 to help me care for my hilly five acres of Oregon paradise. I, however, have one question: How do you move these things from place to place? Will they fit in a standard 8'x4' utility trailer? With the FEL attached?

Thanks.

Simple answer is "No." I'm not sure about the overall width of all the different tires, but the ones I've looked at were too wide for a 4' trailer. I have a 5' x 10' tiltbed trailer that could haul one, but I sure prefer a tandem axle trailer and one that's a little longer.

For my BX I purchased a tandem trailer that has a bed 12' long by 7' wide. I'm really VERY glad I didn't get any smaller...

I trailered my B6100 cross country on an 8' x 16' tandem trailer. I would not have wanted to do highway driving on anything smaller. The B6100 with FEL and rototiller on could have fit on a 12' long trailer but it would not have had room for any other implements.

Tom,

Well, according to the specs, a BX2200 is less than 80" long (about 6'7"), and only 45" wide. So, technically, a BX2200 would fit on a 4X8 trailer (assuming that the trailer was built to hold & carry a 1300lb load). However, you'd be in trouble if you were trying to do that with a FEL or any rear attachment, and what use would that be?

I agree with others that you would need at least a 12' trailer to haul it with any attachments. Likewise, you'd want to at least consider a tandem axle unit.

Getting a blowout with a tandom axle trailer with 1500 to 2000 lbs on it is bad enough, but at least the trailer usually stays on the ground and behind the tow vehicle. With a single, you will most likely either lose your load or flip it over. It would be bad enough if your load was trash or sand or brush. . . . but if it were your BX. . . . . .

Oregon Tom: I haul my BX on a 6x12 single axle trailer. It is rated for 3000lbs., and the BX and FEL just fits. The weight of my tractor with the FEL and 3pt hitch counterweight has been measured at 2125lbs. My tow vehicle is a Toyota Tacoma, and I have a perfectly matched set up.
Having said this, when I trade for a new pickup in a couple years, it will be a full-size and I will trade into a tandem axle 16' trailer. If you have the tow vehicle ability, I can't recommend a 16' trailer enough. It will give you much more room for attached implements, and you will think of myriad other uses.
