After about five years or so of calling my dad to see if his 16ft lightweight (6000lbs!) car trailer is available, driving out to his place to borrow it, then making sure I get my stuff off so he can use it again, I've finally managed to get my own. I searched the used market, but up here, everyone who has a trailer wants to keep it, and anything for sale was either too light or too far away, so I bought new.

It's a PJ, 20ft (18' flat, 2' dovetail) 14k with flip-up ramps. I was looking at a 10k also, but with only $560 difference between the two, I decided to get something that will better handle my needs for now and the future.

Besides, buying from a small, local, family owned dealer makes me feel good.

Now, to build some stake sides for more versatility!

PS: Yeah, I know... the front truck bumper is a bit askew. More on that on another post in the near future.

Joe

Nice rig! More capacity is better when you're buying a trailer.

Nice trailer! You will certainly enjoy the convenience of having your own. Keep it out of the salt and weather as much as you can. I just bought a 6 year old PJ in Fargo that I believe lived outside it's whole life, and the powder coat is literally coming off in sheets.

Did you get it from the guy just west of Roseau on 11? I've been past there umpteen times going to LOW, and have stopped there to look a time or two. Seems he keeps a pretty good inventory considering where he's at.

:drink: Congrats!

Congratulations. The convenience of owning your own trailer and not relying on other people for your equipment needs, most certainly leaves you with a good feeling.

Do you mean east of Roseau? Northwest Trailers, right by the "bunker" near the "S" curves. He said he prices his to match the bigger dealers in Fargo. A quick online search proved his statement to be correct, so I saved a lot of money on fuel by shopping at home. I did not buy a spare tire yet, as he honestly admitted his prices on them are high. He actually suggested I shop online or somewhere else for one. I commend and respect his honesty.

I recently bought a similar trailer, but with slide in ramps. I think I hurt my dad's feelings, he said I seldom use mine just come and get it. But it seemed everytime I had used and wanted to leave something on it some else needed to borrow it. Going to get it and take it back was always a hassle.

Congrats.

Good looking trailer, smart to get more than you need now.
