I have an Anderson dual axle 7K trailer with a square tube trailer jack that works ok when there is no load on it but when there is any weight it becomes a wrestling match for me. I am thinking of replacing it, but wanted to know if these wear out or if there are any serviceable parts to make it work better/easier. It kind of looks like this: Ultra-Tow Square Tube Jack — 3000-Lb. Lift Capacity, Direct Weld Mounting | Trailer Jacks| Northern Tool + Equipment

If not...any suggestion on what to replace it with - I need a weld on type.

Have you tried greasing it? Does it have a fitting?

Grease it. If that does not help just replace.

no place for a nipple and no place to get grease into it? sounds odd but I can't see a way to do it

Not trying to be a smart ***, but if you have a 7k trailer why have a 3k jack? For that weight you would need a two speed jack with a low range for loaded jacking and a high range for empty or lighter loads. IN low range I can raise my 48 ft flatbed with 45,000 lbs with one hand, while in high I couldn't turn it with a 5 foot cheater pipe. If it was me, I would put a 10k jack with grease fitting.

Not at all. I am not sure what size I have on the trailer and was just searching Northern tool when I found what looked like what I had. - I am going to call Anderson and see if they can provide some info, but I bought this used and there is the possibility its not the original.

I appreciate the advice on a 10K jack and will start my search. In fact I didn't know there was such a thing as two speed jacks. so Thanks

Mine became a wrestling match too. Took it apart and found a rusty thrust bearing. Night and day difference after replacement. Now I keep a cover over the jack to keep the rain from running down the shaft into the moving parts. Those plastic newspaper delivery boxes fit mine perfectly when its handle is folded down.

Put an electric tongue jack on it. That is what I did with my 16+2 7k trailer. I drive it off the break away battery. Been on there about 3 years and works great. I have an Atwood on it, but a Barker on my 36' camper. Both have worked great and no problems with either.

I called the manufacturer who kind of talked me out of taking the jack apart - said there were springs and lots of parts inside. But that didn't make sense to me and I am guessing this jack was installed by a PO and is somewhere in the 7K range and not the 3K that the manufacturer had originally put on it. After disassembly, I found it has a rusted/frozen thrust bearing and so I replaced that and lubed up the threaded shaft. I have no weight on the trailer at the moment - but it is definetly smoother. Thanks All!
