I have a 97 F-250 heavy duty 4x4 with the powerstroke engine and auto trans.
It can pull down mountains almost and I keep it in the best condition possible.

I regularly haul a 16,000 pound horse trailer with it and the truck isn't even working untill I get into the mountains.
Now I need to haul my tractor a couple times a year to another farm that is 12 hours away. I don't have a flat bed yet and am looking for suggestions.

The tractor is a good sized one at 4550 pounds roughly. That weight seems low to me but it's what the owners manual says. It's a TD95D new holland, 2007 model with 4 wheel drive and big radials on it. My tires are set out too wide right now for transporting but I can change that. I will need to haul it with a shredder attached so that will probably be about 7,000 pounds.

Will I even be able to get a trailer to haul this or am I going to have to go up to a semi truck? My max trailer towing capacity was 16,000 I think. I've had over 20K behind it for short distances before and never had a problem but If there is a lightweight trailer even available to haul this tractor and stay under 16K I'd sure like some advice on where to find one.

If I had to I could take the weights off and the water out of the tires. That's probably close to a half ton.

For comparison, I just bought a 20' gooseneck equipment trailer with a 12K GVWR, for use with my 2004 F-250 diesel. The trailer weighs 3,595 pounds which gives me 8,405 pounds carrying capacity. This is a "small" gooseneck, compared to most others, and while I just picked it up and have only towed it empty, you can hardly tell it's back there. I recently borrowed my friends 30' gooseneck with 20K capacity and had no trouble whatsoever towing it with about 5,000 pounds of tractor and implements.

My trailer is a GEQ7206T made by Anderson

Get your gooseneck trailer from Anderson Manufacturing.

Seems like the 7 Ton series would be suitable for you.

You shouldn’t have any problem finding a trailer to tow your tractor. My TLB weighs in at 7000 lbs and my 18’ 10k trailer is 2200 lbs leaving me a small margin for fuel, chains and such. What may be a problem is your overall weight and what type of license you have. I think you might be low on your tractor weight estimate. With the filled tires, added weight and a large shredder my guess is you will be well over 7000 lbs. That size tractor with a large shredder will most likely need a 24 foot or longer trailer. With a combination over 10K pounds most state require a CDL license to haul. Some areas have a license exemption for AG equipment but it is normally limited to a given distance from the farm. DOT throws out some hefty fines for license and weight violations so be careful.

If you're happy pulling a 16K horse trailer you should have no problem with the tractor plus shredder. Even if you went with a trailer that's 6000# empty, that still leaves 10K for the load. Most 14K GVW trailers have a capacity of around 10,000#. A dual tandem gooseneck would be best; if you could get one derated to 8 tons that would mean no CDL required in most all states since I assume the F-250 is under 10,000# GVW so total would be under 26,000.

How wide are your tires set? Even if you have the wheels at 72" the total width should be under 8ft which is OK for a standard deck-over trailer.

My JD 5203 is about 4700 pounds without accounting for the loader. I pulled it just fine with F250 with 5.4.

My mistake was buying a 20 foot trailer. No room for the shredder (rotary cutter). Have not measured to see if my 5203 with FEL and MX6 would fit on a 24 footer.

Someone posted a pic of a 24 foot bumper pull just last week I believe. Looked pretty good but don't remember the specs.

Anyhow, just make sure you get plenty of length on the trailer.

I carry a tractor/BH/FEL on a two axle (7,000 # each w/elec brakes) 20 foot trailer. trailer has designed carry weight of 14,000# , including its own weight.

Trailer weighs about 3,000 #, eqpt about 5,000# , all behind a diesel 6.0 F 250 up and down some pretty steep mountains without a problem.

Previous advice about "get enough length on the trailer" is critical, even now I sometimes could do with more.

Here's that 24' bumper pull. I would think this would work for everything you have. The trailer as pictured weighs just a few pounds over 3000. That leaves me with 11,000 more pounds to throw on it. I haven't actually put the tractor on it, but will in the morning.

It is a Top Notch Trailer. They custom built it in 4 days flat, including running it through the state patrol inspection. $4700 + tax, but depending on where you are, it may be more. They are 120 miles from me and are down the street from a buddy that I don't see much (he's 120 miles in a direction I would not have any other reason to go) so I killed two birds.

When I looked at the weight you it looked very light. So I looked at the weights for that model on the Tractor Data Site (tractordata.com) and this is what I found:
Weight: 6,107 (2WD ROPS shipping) lbs [2770 kg]
6,659 (4WD ROPS) lbs [3020 kg]
6,768 (2WD cab) lbs [3069 kg]
7,320 (4WD cab) lbs [3320 kg]

You need to be sure you get the trailer that has the right capablities for what you are going to haul. Also, make sure it is log enough for your needs.

Those are the same weights that NH shows on their website specifications for the TD series. I think he is way low at 4550lbs. A TN could weigh that much or more and it is smaller wheelbase and weight; even the larger TC's can go over 4200 lb. Then you have to add for wheel weights, loaded tires, etc.
I would double check the weight on the TD and get enough trailer.

You should also consider width, a deck over while taller is much easier to get a wide tractor on.
