My B7800 arrived yesterday morning. My neighbor was out the door and watching them unload it from the truck about a minute after they arrived. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif I hadn't even told him it was coming. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif On the other hand, my wife told me that the lady across the street with the pristine lawn gave me several looks. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif Anyway, I digress. I've been looking for a trailer to haul my mini-beast on, but am not entirely satisfied with the selection I've seen so far. I have a limited storage area under my deck and width is an issue. The bucket on my FEL is 60", so I thought a 72" wide deck on a trailer would be good and that should put me at about 92" wide overall. I've found one steel trailer that has a 76" deck, Hudson, and an aluminum trailer with the same size deck, Worthington. I also have seen Holmes trailers, but they have 82" wide decks and with the overall width of 102" that would make things tight. I'm looking for more options. If anybody has some suggestions for manufacturers and website links that would be great.

Thanks,
Darrell

This is a trailer I happened upon. I figured I'd buy it, use it then trade it for the one I want. It is a skid steer trailer that is 13' x 6' 7,500 lb GVW. When I put my CK30TLB the loader bucket has to sit up on the tounge and I have to swing the backhoe all the way to one side. If I have the mower on, it has to sit on the tounge and the bucket beyond the ramps. If I were to put a car on the trailer I wouldn't be able to open the doors. Those are the down sides. The up-sides are, because it is small it is easy to tow and manueverable plus it was only $500! I was in the right place at the right time /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

my body guard

anyways............I'm guessing your Kubota is about the same size as the CK30. If I had to go buy a trailer it most likely would have some of these features. Oh yea, another thing, it is a "low boy" style in a sense. The deck is only 1 foot off the ground

Darrell, shop a lot and ask many questions. Where are you going with your tractor? Don't buy so much trailer that you need a new tow vehicle. Find your tractor+implement overall weight, length, and width. My tilt bed didn't cost more to build than a fixed one, and it is easy to load. Tilting may reduce the maximum acceptable load. At the PowerTrac forum, one guy has a long, dual axle trailer that he can load some dirt on the nose, then his tractor to the rear. Great idea, but easy to overload.

Look for good tie-down points and a smooth, easy to use, wheeled, tongue jack. At one time, using my jack handle would not clear my spare tire on the nose. After some use, get your tie downs custom made for your tractor size. In day-to-day use, the loading ease(ramps and ramp storage), tie-downs and storage, and tongue jack make a big difference.

Darrell,
First measure the length of your tractor from bucket to an implement on the back. You"ll probably need at least a 14-16' deck. That will give you a minumum trailer length to look for.

Then figure the total weight of tractor with implement(s) You may get by with a 7000Lb rated trailer or you might need a higher capacity.

You mentioned 72" wide. Are you ever going to use the trailer to haul a vehicle? If so 72" won't be wide enough. Most full size vehicles require a width of 82-83" between the fenders. Wider, longer, and higher weight class trailers are more expensive than a standard equipment trailers.

In my opinion I'd get a tandem axle with brakes on both for safety. I just replaced a 16' tandem trailer with one from H&H Trailers (website is HHtrailers.net). It's 8.5 x 20' Speedloader MX with a hydraulic tilt bed, brakes on both axles, 2 5/16" hitch, drop leg jack, DOT lighting pkg., removable fenders etc.

There are many trailer mfgs. that make quality trailers to pick from. There are a few pics of mine in the Mahindra photo section to look at. The choice is yours, just don't limit yourself if you have other uses for a trailer.
Good luck in your hunt and upcoming purchase.

George
