Anybody have any insight to trailering a Kubota KX080 excavator? I'm looking for the appropriate truck/trailer combination.

I believe the Kubota's weight is around 19,500 lbs. Then you have the trailer weight and whatever other equipment you need. That's getting heavy.

Kinda hoping that a 1-ton dually pickup would do the job with a heavy gooseneck, but am not sure that's such a good idea. It seems borderline safe or even possible. I've been having difficulty nailing down real stats.

Will I have to go to a "dump" truck with a pintle hitch to move this thing?

Thanks for the help.

Well they are not quite that heavy but close enough that it weights too much for most. To stay in a one ton style truck you will have to go with a 450-550 class truck. That is what the dealer close to me uses, F-450/550's. That is the why there is alot of interest in the size machine for you can hauler it easier, while still getting a productive machine.
But you could probably get a used dump truck and tag-a-long cheaper than a newer 450/550.s

Thanks Robbie,

I did some searches for used dump trucks and there are lots of them out there for really reasonable prices. I was kind of hoping to dodge the pintle hitch and to work with a gooseneck, but had a hunch that was pushing the limits of a pickup.

I might find that a dump truck is a really useful piece of machinery, too.

Keep on truckin'!
