trailers and trailer brakes

Evening all...

I've begun to shop at various trailer dealers for a gooseneck, Probably dual tandem... I'll need a hitch, B&W turnover ball.
So far pretty straight forward... Brake controller... I was thinkin' prodigy and then I found this: Brakesmart Seems highly recommended on the RV forums. $$ but I can always keep it when I trade trucks. Thoughts??

That's double the price of a Prodigy. Plus you still need a Wiring Harness. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
I like the feature that it's self adjusting.
I saw an advertisement where some new Fords come with a Brake Controller built into the dash.

I've had great luck with the activatorII series from drawtite. So far all my trucks have had factory harness's.. and all I have to do is plug in the unit from the pig tail under the dash.. pop a big fuse or CB in under the hood, etc. On my dodge I changed out the 7 pin plug for a 6 to match my other trailers, and on my yukon.. i use a 7to 6 adapter.

The new Fords indeed have a factory controller...
"Tow Command" I believe is the package name. In 2008-2009 I may buy an '05... /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Since I hate fiddling and I forsee a need to tow more than one trailer regularly, I may have to be a guinea pig...
