i have a 2008 2415 Mahindra shuttle shift. Never any problems with it. Today went to plow snow, and i find i'm stuck in 1st gear. I can go from hi to low range no problem, drives fine but needless to say 1 lo & 1 hi are not gonna be sufficient. PTO and 4wd engages ok too. I took off plastic cover over the L fender and see the shifting mechanism , when i try to force it to move the whole linkage down to under the floor boards to the shaft that goes into transmission wiggles a bit, which implies to me that the linkage parts move freely but something in the transmission is stuck. Any suggestions where to go to from here? I'm not a mechanic, if its something big i'll have to trailer it to a dealer for service but id hate to do that for an easy fix if someone knows what im doing wrong . Appreciate any help !

What was the fix for your 2415 mine just did this today?????

When my M6040 was new I had troubles shifting the range selector. After ten years - works fine now. I would apply pressure on the range selector lever and slowly back up the tractor. It would "break loose" and go into either Hi or Low range. I've never had trouble with the shift for the transmission.

Try putting pressure on the tranny shift lever and go, slowly, from forward to reverse.

Hope this will resolve your situation.

BTW - welcome to TBN and the forum.

I had a 3616 Mahindra where the shifter would lock up and it was the linkage where it connects to joystick. I had to take a screwdriver and pop it back in place. Don’t know if same setup or not. Good luck

I ended up trailering it to a dealer. They determined the linkage was out of spec and it was trying to go into 1st & 3rd at the same time they were able to get it loose with a crowbar(!) and the adjust linkage to factory specs. Shifts fine now. Had to pay about 1/2 day labor .

They did drain oil and Checked there was no metal debris in the transmission thankfully.

Sounds like darmstrong’s fix would work if you know which way to pry.

Thanks for the reply. After more research ,Dave of Dave’s Tractor had the answer for mine . The linkage had slipped out of the “notch “of the shifter. This would not let the shifter move to the right into the slot to change gears. The simple fix was to manually move the linkage with channel pliers to the notch. I did remove the plastic cover from the fender for easier access.I was pleased that I did not have to load and trailer to the dealer which is over 50 miles away
