Just bought a Ford 1100. Owners manual says MC-134-A for trans/hydraulic fluid. Will any old trans hydraulic fluid be ok?

the manual gave you the EXACT spec to ID.

what's the issue with reading down the side of a jug and see it it meets that spec.

the full spec is M2C134 A on that old one. Current spec level would be M2C134D. thus any of the M2C134 revisions will meet the spec for your machine.

thus look for that spec listed.

walmart supertech, and traveler UTF oils meet that spec. some 20$ bargain basment 303 type oils from coastal, accell and other bottlers that don't list a '134' spec would IMHO.. not be suitable or reccomended for theat vintage of a machine. an old 8n? sure.. not your 1100

you should have little problem finding a utf oil meeting M2C134(A-D) spec.. 35-50$ is usual price for a 5g jug. most auto stores and farm stores and even walmart and napa/carquest carry it.
