transaxle problem

Hey all,,, I had given to me a craftsman ll twin 18 rideing mower. Everything is good on it except the rear axle came out of the transaxle on the left side. The guy was hiting on the wheel hub to get it off and the axle came out instead. Does anybody know are these like cars where you just slip them back in and the snap rings grab them, or do you have to take the transaxle apart and spread the clips. thanks bedway

Yea, i went to the sears parts site first thing to look it up. To my non-surprise they dont show a parts diagram of the transaxle. They do of course have it as one unit (the transaxle) for the small sum of 478.00.,,,yikes. Guess ill keep looking for a diagram of the unit! I do appreciate your reply jdsafeman. bedway
