I am finally getting around to making up a bulk diesel tank for filling my tractor. I need about 8 feet of hose to reach from the pump to the tractor. I'm not sure if I need to go with the expensive type B1 or B2 diesel rated hose or not. I see some tank/pump outfits in catalogs with what appears to be clear PVC tubing. Any advise?

I bought mine at Tractor Supply about six years ago. They carry two hoses in my local store. About $25.00 with a ground wire, $15.00 without. 3/4" NPT on both ends.

My thoughts: re transfer hose

The clear type I've seen go real stiff and become unusable when used with fuels etc.
Also some petrolium based fluids seem to kinds disolve the hose causing a gooey 'gel' like substance (may have been brake fluid)

What I know does work OK is radiator or heater hose that most auto parts sell by the foot at reasonable prices.

I bouhgt a small transfer pump a few years back.. came with that clear tubeing.. it cracked and got brittle.

I'd go with the TSC hose.. or other 'gas' rated hose sold by the foot at some parts stores.. like napa.. etc.

Also check with your fuel supplier.. they may have some hose/ends for you.

Mine is from TSC. You can also buy from Northern Tool online if you don't have a Tractor Supply close to you.

Not knowing all the particulars, I'd avoid useing tubing not designed for handleing fuel. What you might save up front will cost you more down the road.

When I bought my Hardy fuel cart, it came with a clear hose and it's been no problem over the last 2 years. I don't know what type/class it is but I'd caution against using anything that isn't rated for diesel. If that goop comes off the inside of the hose and gets into your fuel tank, your in for a load of heartache.

Well, depending on what kind of pump you have....... odds are it will be a 3/4" pipe thread.... especially if it's for fuel (and not the cheap pumps).

Get the fuel rated one. They are not that expensive... NAPA should be able to get them.
