I recently picked up a 50 gallon transfer tank mounted to a plastic pallet.
I had planned to load it into the truck and get it filled up when needed. Now I realize I could have it filled when I order home heating oil but I don't need any heating oil at the moment and they won't deliver 50 gallons(100 gal min). I figured it'd be not issue to locate a distributor locally and fill the tank but I'm having zero luck. I called several heating oil guys and no one offers pickup. Does anyone have a lead on a place I can fill this tank? I work in Rhode Island and live just over the RI CT line. I'm not looking to fill it with on road diesel since it's going into the tractor. Thanks

Matt

I mounted a 100 gallon one to a pallet . When I need to fill it I put it in the truck with forks on the loader, fill it up at the gas station and unload it to a cart I made so it can be moved around .
Sounds like an excuse to get a set of forks !

It's mounted to a pallet and I've got forks. It's not the logistics part that's and issue its finding off road (no tax) diesel to fill it with.

Is your HH oil tank outside? If it is, why not just take out the fill pipe and put a pump into it and pump away, directly into your tractor.

As mentioned, use your HHO for the tractor for now. When the tank gets low enough for a fill up they can deliver to re-fill your HHO tank and top off the 50 gallon while they are there.
I'm going to have my HHO filled this week and have them throw another 100 in my tank I use for the tractor.

The HHO tank is inside and not setup for transfer. Hence the reason for purchasing the transfer tank.
I'm going to keep beating the bushes as I don't want to be tied to the HHO delivery for filling the tank. I suppose the taxed diesel will be the last resort if I get in a bind.

Just keep your receipts so you can deduct it when you file your return. I don't have a dedicated off-road station here so that's what my accountant told me to do for both gas and diesel.
(Your state my be different).

Since Google didn't help me, do what I'm going to do: ask my farming neighbors where they get their off-road diesel for their tractors.

Good luck!
