Transmission fluid level

On my Yanmar 1401 there is a cap under the seat for the transmission. THere is no stick in there for measuring. Would you use your finger or eyeball it? Should I go get a dip stick? /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Hi I had the same problem. My dipstick was MIA.
It is located on the opposite side of the gear shift and has a small black knob on it. I purchased a used one.
