I am embarrassed to say this but I cannot find a dipstick to check the transmission fluid level on my L3410. I can find the cap to fill from but no way of checking the level. any help would be appreciated. Also, another dumb question, does this also serve as the oil for the hydraulics? The reason I was looking in the first place because my loader was only lifting a box grader off the ground about 2 feet. I need to load it on a trailer and can't get it high enough. I unloaded it this spring with no issues.

Yes, the fluid is universal in that the same reservoir is used for trans, hydraulics, pwr steering, rear differential,.....

I don't have that exact tractor, but look for a 'sight glass' to check the level. It should be on rear of tractor kind of to the left of the PTO. If you can see fluid in the glass our level should be OK.

Good Luck

Thanks so much. If for some reason I can't determine from sight glass,(I prefer a dipstick) is there a visual "ballpark" i could use by looking thru the fill opening. when i checked it was WAY down there. maybe an approximation as to how many inches from fill opening it should be? I know i have some leakage and just haven't found where yet. Snow is predicted and, beyond needing to load the box grader, i predict i will be needing to move some snow with the loader.

I don't know about that. I suppose you could guesstimate the distance from the fill port to the sight glass externally, and then measure down to the fluid thru the fill port if there was a clear path. On mine, fluid visible anywhere through the sight glass (quarter sized) is good to go. The measurement should be with all hydraulics relaxed and on level ground of course. I don't have your exact tractor, maybe someone who does can give more help.

Good luck

I do appreciate the quick response. Gonna check for the sight glass when I get home. Hope that fixes my loader problem so i can get the box blade moved before the snow comes
