Transmission/hydraulic oil for a MF 1260 tractor

I am planning on changing the transmission/hydraulic oil for my MF 1260 tractor. The owners manual recomends Permatran III, which is very expensive, or SAE 80 GL4. The local oil company does not have the fore mentioned SAE oil but does have SAE80/90 GL5. Would this substitute oil be okay for my tractor.

I would hold out and find an oil that lists your oils ( either one) as a equivalent replacement.

For instance.. Generic UTF at walmart or TSC is listed as a repalcement for M2C134d.. a CNH utf oil.. etc.

I'd check around for specs..

The Amsoil hydraulic fluid would be real good if you cannot find the MF Permatran III product.

I am sure that Amsoil has a good produce that will work, but it will be more expensive that Permatran III. I don't know which transmission you have but put the oil that should be in it and you won't have problems. I have seen to many tractors with hydraulic problems because of cheap oil or types of oil that shouldn't have been in them to begin with. Get the Permatran and all will be well.

Is that the correct rating for your tractor. Thats waht was listed for the amsoil.

Permatran III is correct for his MF1260.

Amsoil is a lot more expensive than Permatran.
