Kubota L345DT, Yanmar 1500D,
I have a L345DT that leaks gear oil in the clutch. I have drained and slit the tractor. While draining I found a small piece of a gear tip in the oil pan. Now I want to open the transmission to check the gears but can't get the cover in the bellhousing off. Has anyone had a similar problem? Any sujestions?

Can you post a photo of the cover you can't get off?

My B21 had a destroyed gearbox after getting engine oil on the clutch.

Distroyed gear box, thats not good, Hope it was under warranty. What was happening? Was it grinding gears? Mine started doing that. I don't have a camera nor know how to post pictures otherwise I would.

Check out my thread on rebuilding my B21, which I acquired broken.

In summary, my theory is that the oil got on the clutch, caused it to chatter,
then made it hard to shift, then the operator forced a shift lever, breaking it.
The pieces of shifter mechanism flew around the trans, breaking gears.

You can get a good camera new for $50-75.

good job dfkrug, looks like you enjoyed fixing it. I got the cover off today. Had to take off the tank and steering box then I was able to get a wedge in there to split it. I think what happened was the PTO disk and shaft got sloppy causing the bearing to fail and took the seal out with it. I'm going to look for a new PTO shaft and clutch disks( dual clutch) bearing and seals. Took the shifter cover off and the tranny looks to be in good shape.

It could be the input shaft on the trans leaking. The seal should be cheap and is easy to do when you are in there.

Today I put new bearings and seals in the tranny output shaft also two new clutch disks. Closed the clutch housing up but now I have almost no pedal the pressure plate fingers are about 1 inch from the throwout bearing so now I'm going to split it again and see what is going on.

You didn't forget the springs that hold the peddle up?

If you're referring to the diaphragm springs they are in there. I'm wondering if these aftermarket disks are thicker then the OEM which would hold the pressure plate back as if when the pedal is stepped on. It might be a little but if it is it's not by much. There's a little bit I can take up with the adjusting screws on the peddles but not even close to enough.

My tractor is finished. I got OEM parts and no more problems.
