transportation lever on gt245

I have a JD GT245 and when I lift the mower deck it stays up for a bit then the lever releases and it drops back down. I looked in the owners manual and there is nothing about it. Any ideas?

Is this a foot lift or a hand lift? If it is a hand lift the spring in the hande is weak or broken or the latch components are worn. You shouldn't have this problem with foot lift. Also check the spring assist tension. You may not have enough causing undue stress on the lift mechanism.

Shotgun, It is a footlift and then you engauge the lever on the dash to hold it up. This is when the problem arises because it will hold for a second then drop. norgeman

So when you push the pedal down and latch the deck up... the deck comes down after a second or the latch falls down after a second? or both at the same time?
