Anyone here make a tree scoop? I need to move around about 200 trees and ain't crazy about useing the banjo (shovel) again. It looks like I could just carve up a 2 foot x 36" 3/8 pipe.
Thanks Bob

that sounds like a great idea if you can take off you bucket and put the pipe on. with a pointed lower part it should take out small trees and transport them easily. Given that idea, I think I will get on it and make one for myself.

Ive seen some made that appear to look like a large icecream scoop, basically 3 hunks of heavy sheet steel welded up that form a spoon shape that is attached to the FEL or to a 3pt with industrial tractor (power down 3pt) the unit it then rotated popping the tree up/out. takes some good force though. I have a small compact back hoe if I neededto move that many...

Interesting looking bucket to say the least. I was a bit disappointed in the video of how it works as the first part was too dark to be of much use. While the last part showed picking up and moving boulders which isn't a good reason to use a tree spade IMO.

I built one here .

I haven't actually used it for any trees yet, but I helped a friend dig out some echinacea roots in hard clay. It worked pretty good for that and I imagine it would do well for small trees as well.

That’s the one I have on my L4200…. Very handy, the big problem is getting around at least 3 sides of the tree 4 is better but it works good. Not as nice as a large hydraulic tree spade but still nice to dig with. KennyV.

Thanks for the reply's and pics. I bought a piece of 3/8 x 24 " pipe and cut out a pice and welded it to a 1/4 backplate. I then mounted it to my fork rack with bolts. moved about 20 trees today and it is working real good. I will take some pics tonight.
BTW the total cost to me was $92 Cdn. for used steel.

Here is a pic of the scoop. I moved these trees and was watering them.
