Will need to purchase a trickle charger for my X354. Any idea what is comparable or a good charger to get. Will be leaving it in he shed and it gets pretty cold in MA.

Thanks

Anything from Schumacher. Their products are typically highly rated on Amazon.

I have two trickle chargers - both have worked well for years. Deltran Battery Tender & Optimate 4. I use the Deltran on the tractor in the winter and the Optimate is specific for my BMW motorcycle(specific plug that is compatible with the BMW CAN-bus system).

Do I have to disconnect etc the battery from mower or just connect as it sits in mower?

Look to Amazon. Just use a pig tail and plug it in check it from time to time and it will be fine .
I use two ever winter and never a problem . As for doing anything to the battery no .

SJM1027-

I have a pig tail directly connected to the battery, on the tractor, and the trickle charger hooks to the pig tail. The battery remains in and connected to the tractor while connected to the trickle charger.

Thanks everyone, will pick mine up this week. Getting ready early this year. Think I will install a pig tail as well.

I have a NOCO Genius charger and it works great, CTEK is also a great option.

Whatever, just be sure it is an 'intelligent' charger. Most that I have seen will have 3 LED's to indicate status.

Real cheap ones (like $10.00) are merely a transformer and one diode that puts out up to 18 VDC (open) and will eventually boil out the battery. Those ore OK to slow charge over a short time but not to be left connected.
