Yes, that's kinda what I'm sayin'. The big box stores demand low prices when they buy stuff. That's why the same brand will most generally be of cheaper quality than at a small, local dealer. I haven't checked trimmers lately, so I'm not sure about entry level vs entry level from a dealer,but I would guess that they have a little different model # ( like welders for instance ) from the small specialized dealer. I just find it hard to trust most products at these big chains because of it.

You might be right. I've heard that same thing about everything from tires to lawnmowers to air tools such as impact wrenches, drills, sanders, and on and on. For some items, I've heard the cheaper places were selling "factory seconds". I've no doubt that some things are built to a particular retailer's specifications, but as far as the same model of a particular brand being different in different stores, I've yet to see any proof of that. I do know that the big retailers can buy the products cheaper than the small dealers simply because of volume discounts. When Cub Cadet riding mowers first appeared in the box stores, I priced one particular model, then went to two different Cub dealers in two different cities over 50 miles apart, and all 3 places quoted the same price on the same model.

Well I just purchased a Kawasaki KTF27A/AC, It seems like a nice timmer. The good part is they give you a 10 day tryout with a complete refund if not satisfied. Shindawa gives you 7 days as well. I hope this will be fine though, It also comes with a 5 yr guarantee to boot.
