.... flat bed, full aluminum w/alum track plates and wood deck, five years old, with fold down (alum) ramps, stake pockets for future sides, electric brake on both axels, good rubber, very light use, looks like new, $2200-.
How'd I do? The thing I hate about trailers, is that: When you need 'em, ya needed 'em, but they sit 90% of their lives! Now with three tractors, I hate asking to borrow....! Now a question: I'm unfamiliar with elec brakes, (I'm use to surge) Do I need a controller box in the tow vehicle?!?? Yes/ no! If so, is this easily exchanged between vehicles? I've got a 2002 Grand Cherokee, son has a newer F-150, both V-8's. Any other advise w/ a 850# (unloaded weight trailer) with my JD4200 with backhoe! Thanks in advance! ~Scotty

Well first off you are going to need a brake controller. As for swapping them from car to car it can be done but is a pain. If you are a casual tower get the basic fool proof $60 units from TSC or of the net. They are usually sold under the name PILOT, TAP, REESE, or DRAW TITE. If the trucks have the round 7 pin connectors at the hitch you should be all set up with the wires already ran. If not you need to finish installing the wiring to the trucks. A electric brake trailer takes 6 wires. They are ground, lights, left turn, right turn, positive for keeping the battery on the trailer charged, and the brake trigger wire itself.

I get all my stuff from these folks. Take a look at the site. They have all the wiring diagrams and even real step by step instructions for popular trucks with photo's.

Here is a link to a great buy on a basic controller. I recommend these for folks just using it once a month or so.

Thanks Chris, those are very helpful links. Both the vehicles I mentioned have the seven-round connector, so I guess it's just a matter of splicing in the controller box into the proper wires under the dash! I bet there's a pigtail under there for just this purpose! I'll do my studying and if not comfy, I'll take it to the auto-electric dudes!! ~Scotty

Both vehicles probably have factory wiring for the brake controller. In my 2004 Dakota there was a blue 4 wire plug near the parking brake. I bet it is the same in your Jeep. I was able to buy a matching plug and plug the brake controller in,
