Last year, i picked up a small Topf Blumat kit from Costco. It included some hoses and "sensors". After following the instructions, you planted the sensor into the ground and as the ground started to dry, it would allow water to drip onto the ground, next to your plant until the ground moisture reached the level you had set for shut off.
This kit allowed one to use a bucket, sitting a few feet above the ground and you filled with water. So a low pressure application. It doesn't require any electricity.
This year im going to connect the Blumat sensors to some other low volume drip emitters and some 1/4" drip line for row crops, to see how it will work.
These kits use metric tubing, 3mm and 8mm, which is hard to find and kind of expensive as compared to drip equipment readily available in the United States.
