TROUBLE WITH KUBOTA?

I WAS COMPARING A M6800 WITH A JD 5420. THE SALESMAN WITH JD TOLD ME THAT MANY KUBOTA DEALERSHIPS WERE CLOSING AND THAT I WOULD HAVE TROUBLE GETTING PARTS. ALSO, THE RESALE FOR KUBOTAS ARE ROCK BOTTOM. FROM WHAT I HAVE SEEN THIS IS SALESMAN WAS JUST KNOCKING KUBOTA BECAUSE HE COULDN'T EVEN COME CLOSE TO THEIR PRICE. IS THERE ANYTHING TO HIS CLAIMS?

Geez, some salesmen will say anything to sell their product. When I was shopping, I noticed that the JD dealers constantly bashed Kubota. The Kubota dealers never even mentioned their competitors, and instead, only focused on the merits of their products. Needless to say, I went <font color=orange>orange</font color=orange>. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Laughable...
There are three Kubota dealers around me and they can't unbox B's and BX's fast enough. In my opinion, Kubota has cornered the market for properties in the 1 to 5 acre range with the BX. Sounds like this salesman was... uh... LYING!

Anybody who can't stay in business without slamming the competition, probably does the same to their customers. I'd stay away from those dealers, although not necessarily the machine.

We just had a local Kubota dealer go out of business... /w3tcompact/icons/sad.gif

This dealer had more business- than you could throw a stick at...He went out of business because he "gave things away"... he was too cheap... he just plain didn't pay for his Kubota tractors he already sold... /w3tcompact/icons/blush.gif

People would give a right arm and some other parts of their body to have a Kubota dealership... along with John Deere and New Holland... and others... they certainly don't "hand out" these dealerships for the asking... (and by the way you also need some solid financial $$$ backing to start talking with these big boys... among other things...)

The person you spoke with was simply "blowing smoke"...

News to me. /w3tcompact/icons/shocked.gif Maybe the saleman better check out the Kubota stocks in the stock market.My dealer planing on to add on more square footage plus hire couple more service techs.

Our local Kubota dealer just opened up a second location on the other side of the city. Too much business and not enough room. I'd ignore the saleman's comments. He knows not of which he speaks! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

I don't know anything about the John Deere 5420 but I can tell you that the M6800 is a fine tractor. My neighbor has one and the experience he's had with his was the main reason I bought a M4900.

As far as the salesman's claims about Kubota dealers going out of business it's pure BULL. Kubota took the dealership from a guy where I live because of some shady dealings and gave it to an old well established Ford (NH) dealer. Because he didn't have room for both tractor lines he gave up the New Holland tractors to make room for the Kubotas.

I understand there were several people interested in the franchise. As JMIII stated it takes some major bucks to start a franchise.
